If you know me, you know that I've come to work in advertising strategy & planning by way of academia. If you don't know me: I spent a few years in the graduate Dept. of Sociology at UCSD studying cultural tastes and consumption, before deciding that I wasn't really about that professorial life after all.
But you can do a whole lot of reading on a subject in three years' time, and more if you keep that habit going. And I'm as interested in studying people as I ever was. So this is going to be a blog with my thoughts on advertising and stuff, lensed through cultural sociology. How I work and see the world; hopefully it's interesting.
